In-Character Rules:

- No powerplaying or godmoding. These are, if you don't already know: Controlling another person's character, and making your character invincible.
An example of both, using Tim and Chad as the players and Bob and Joe as their respective characters:

Powerplaying
Tim: Bob drew his gun. "Don't move." he said, pointing it at Joe's head. Joe dove to the side.
As you can see, Tim just controlled Chad's character, Joe. Not okay.

Godmoding
Chad: Joe sprang at Bob, tackling him to the ground and pinning him down.
Tim: Bob tried to push Joe off, aiming a punch at his stomach at the same time.
Chad: Bob couldn't push Joe off, and Joe didn't even feel the punch. Joe punched Bob in the face and knocked him out.
And there, Chad made Joe invincible. Bob couldn't get Joe off of him, his punch didn't do anything, and Joe knocked Bob out without giving him a chance to react/block/etc.

- The minimum post length is now 150 words. I'll put a word counter on each role-playing page to help members count words.[/b]

- How about love? (Gotta love Rent.) Right, so this site is generally rated PG-13. That is, kissing is fine, and suggestiveness is fine. But when people start removing clothes I'll require a warning in the title of the thread. A simple [x] or [R] will suffice. Also, please modify your first post to explain why the warning is there. No detail please. Just say something out of character like "Quick sex on page three" if you're not describing it much, or "Detailed intercourse on pages 2-6" if you're going into explicit detail. This goes for excessive amounts of gore as well.

- As far as cursing... I don't require a warning for any cursing, no matter how bad it may be. If your head explodes when you see the "F-word," then you should probably go to a PG rated site.

- In profiles, if you're using a picture for your character (which is encouraged but not required), write your appearance as though you didn't have a picture. This means: Even if you have a picture, your character's appearance should still be 1-3 paragraphs long. A paragraph = 5-6 lines of text.

- Finally, your characters will age in this role-play. The "birthdate" entry in their profile isn't just there for fun. I expect your characters to age year by year. Everyone gets older, and it's not all bad. Besides, you can throw them a party when their birthday rolls around.

Out-of-Character Rules:

- Respect your fellow role-players.
- Respect the staff.
- Respect the guests.
- Respect our boards.

- If your characters hate each other, that doesn't mean you (the players) should hate each other. If you're having a serious disagreement with someone, try to solve it calmly and logically. If you really must stoop to Ooc shouting and arguing, then take it to PMs, e-mail, or something similar. I don't want any fights here. (Obviously, in-character fighting is a completely different story.)

- This is not a kiddie site, but neither is it R-rated. I expect members to be mature. If you find a mature thread without a warning, please notify me.

- Use correct grammar and punctuation even out of character. I understand if you're in a great rush or drunk (hey, it happens xD) or something, but in general... Capitalize, punctuate, etc.

- On signature images: Keep them smallish. Not too tall (200 pixels should be enough to fit your character in), and don't stretch the page lengthwise. This goes for avatars as well. Avatars should be 100x100 pixels or less. Talller is okay, but don't make them wide and stretch the page. If you're not sure, then PM me and ask.

- About accounts: This is not required, but it makes everything much easier for everyone. It is recommended that you create a seperate account for each character, plus an out of character account for random chatting. It makes everything much simpler.

Other:

These aren't rules, just ideas to make your experience here better.

- If someone you're role-playing with has been on, but hasn't replied, send them a PM and ask them (politely) to reply. Maybe they forgot, didn't see your post, or thought they replied when they actually did't.

- If you're in a story but no one is ever on at the same time, try making a 'date' in the plot discussion board so that you can all be on and role-play together at the same time.

- If you have any questions, PM me and ask. It's been said before, but there are no stupid questions... And I actually mean that, despite what you've probably learned from any teacher who's ever said that to you. You can also PM me just to introduce yourself, chat, or say hi. I may do the same for you.

- Message random people just to say hi. It's great to have members who are all friendly.

- Make new members feel welcome. Ask them if they need anything explained, or just start a friendly conversation. Trust me, they appreciate it.

- Have fun, gosh darnit. It's no fun if you're not having fun, you know?
