Where: Atzerri system.
When: Four years prior to the Battle of Yavin (when the first Death Star was destroyed)
What: Smuggler's base on Telan, Atzerri's largest moon.

An odd growling noise came from beside one of the many docked starships, and a moment later a battered ASP droid came scampering out from behind it, a rattling tin of tools in its hands completely forgotten. As it ran, tools fell out and scattered across the floor, some sparking dangerously. The grunt came again, followed by a series of grows and barks, as a stocky figure came out from behind the ship. The figure stood about five and a half feet tall, but was not built like a human. His body was bulky but muscular, with four thick arms ending in clawed, three-fingered hands. As he "barked" at the fleeing droid, an elastic sack dangling from his throat expanded slightly, amplifying the noise so that it echoed throughout the hangar. Of course, the wide mouth helped with that as well. Everyone nearby turned, and those who already knew Nex chuckled to themselves. Nex was a Besalisk, an avian-descended species from the icy ocean-planet Ojom in the Outer Rim, and everyone knew his lack of patience for the low-intelligence ASP labor droids.

Cursing in Basic now rather than his native language, Nex sighed and started picking up tools, tossing them into the box the droid had dropped not long after fleeing the starship. Holding the box in one hand, a sparking fusion cutter delicately in another, and a power calibrator in a third, he slowly made his way back to the ship. Setting the box on the ground and putting the power calibrator inside, Nex set about fixing the fusion cutter. He ended up cutting his own hand a little once, but finally the thing stopped sparking and he could shut it off safely. Growling a curse under his breath again, Nex tossed it into the toolbox and got to his feet, wiping off his sweaty brow with a rag he kept in his pocket. His planet was an icy ocean devoid of continents, and he had been raised on a glacier most of his life. The temperate air of the hangar seemed extremely hot to his cold-adapted body. He wiped some of the blood off his green-skinned hand with the same rag, then tucked it back into his pocket and started back for the tool box.

Nex had been working on this for hours, and every time he managed to fix one problem, another would pop up. Vulture droids weren't very common nowadays, but when a pack of them latched onto a spaceship like this they could do some serious damage. The hull wasn't badly damaged, but the ship's innards were another issue entirely. It was a wonder the ship had even been able to land, and Nex had said as much to the pilot who brought it to him. Nex - known as the slave Nexxter Ryksi to the Empire - was primarily a mechanic here, but he was occasionally asked to go on a smuggling or pirating voyage. Usually, he repaired the ship or disabled security devices, but there were occasions when his ability to hold four blasters at once had come in handy as well. Now though, Nex needed to concentrate on finishing this ship before tomorrow morning, when the human who owned it said he needed it done. If he couldn't do it, Nex probably wouldn't end up getting paid, and he needed the money right now to pay off Colga the Hutt, who had helped him escape the Empire when they declared Besalisks (his species) a slave species.

Wiping his greasy hands on his stained white shirt, grabbing a tool in each of his four hands and setting to work once more.

"Over there! After him!" Tal'di heard over his shoulder as he sped away on his swoop. The Storm Troopers had just seen Tal'di coming out of a cantina that had reported a blue Twi'lek starting a brawl, so they assumed it was him. They were not wrong in their assumption, but Tal'di did not need this right now. Tal'di sped away as fast as he could. He didn't know the planet very well, and that didn't help, but he did know his bike and he was one hell of a swoop bike racer so he chould be able to get away from these guys... Hopefully.
Tal'di raced through the town to the plains on the outskirts. These plains are frequently used for racing because it has large amounts of flat lands with only the occasional tree and boulder. Once he got out to open ground he would lose them easily. The Storm Troopers were right behind him on speeders and they were catching up. Tal'di started swearing at them in Lekku. One of the troopers started firing at him and said, "That was your final warning. If you do not stop we will be forced to shot you down!" Okay, now I'm in trouble. Tal'di decided to act first and fire at them. He was aiming for their engines but while going at over 500 KPH, it was not easy. He hit one of their engines and that guy jumped off before his speeder exploded but he completely missed the others. He kept turning around to shoot while trying to dodge the laser fire. He changed directions and started heading to a slightly more wooded area. He might be able to out-maneuver them through the trees. He continued to fire at them every chance he got. He wanted them off his tail, now. After a few more shots he hit another one. Yes, only one more! he thought as he turned back around. When he looked in front of him, he was not happy with what he saw.
"Frotz!" He cried as he tried to dodge a huge boulder. He swirved out of the way but then hit a large tree which had been keeping the boulder from rolling down a hill. He went flying over the handle bars and rolled down the embankment, the tree and his bike following closely behind. The final Storm Trooper managed to avoid the obstacles with ease and quickly moved to look over the edge to see the fate of the Twi'lek. He didn't see the Twi'lek but he saw the crashed bike and the fallen tree. He assumed that the Twi'lek was underneath them "There's no way he could have survived." The Storm Trooper called back into the Command Center that the criminal died in the pursuit. He then headed to town.
Tal'di awoke a few hours later in a bush. Great, a shrub broke my fall, he thought as he got up; realizing how incredibly sore he was. I should be happy that my face didn't break my fall. He then looked up and saw shat was left of his bike. It looked like it was as close to being totaled as you could get without actually being destroyed. The thrusters were bent and broken, one of the handle bars was snapped off, the steering vanes were cracked and the central repulsor pod would probably have to be replaced. Tal'di was not happy. All of this over a stupid 500 credit debt... He got up, brushed himself off, and went over to inspect the damage. Surprisingly, it was not as bad as it looked. When he had swerved and slowed down a lot of the energy was lost and it was mostly the fall that did the damage. Maybe it'll still run. He picked up the broken bike and tried to get it to start. It took a few tries, and it was not happy about it, but it started. He slowly rode it back up the hill and headed to the nearest city. Phew...If I lost this bike, I might as well just gone back to Colga and asked her to let me be her slave again. The last thing I need to to take out another loan from a Hutt. And that's just what she needs, another smuggler who owes her their first born and left arm... I just got out of her grasp. I'm not going back unless I have to.. Maybe Nex can fix it. Who am I kidding, he can fix anything. This won't be the first time I've brought him a swoop in this condition, though I have to say, the other times it looked this bad at least it looked like this from a good cause... Damn tree. And with that Tal'di headed out for Telan to visit Nex the Miracle Mechanic, once more. "Telan here I come."
